Power Pole Installation, Replacement and Maintenance

Timber Pole Replacement

    Installation:

Reliable Power Services can install power poles, meters and all associated electrical linework for new buildings and commercial work sites.

In private properties it is our preference to use steel power poles, though in instances where regulatory height clearance and span distances cannot be achieved through the use of a steel power pole, a larger timber power pole may be required.

    Replacement:

Both timber and steel power poles have a certain lifespan, as over time they may incur:

    • Rusting,
    • Termite damage, or
    • Rotting.

Reliable Power Services has attended many properties for emergency assistance, finding live power lines and power poles that have fallen to the ground.

It is best practice to replace a damaged power pole, before an accident or near-miss occurs, as:

    • Where the integrity of the power pole is compromised, the risk to health and safety increases dramatically, especially in high wind areas and during instances of natural disaster.
    • It is more cost efficient for a property owner to have a power pole replaced during scheduled situations, avoiding the higher costs of work being carried out on weekends, public holidays or during the night.
    • When a power pole falls unexpectedly, the property owner may be without power unexpectedly, for some time.

    Relocation:

The relocation or removal of power poles may be required in some situations, to suit home renovations, such as front-of-house remodelling or landscaping projects.

In some instances, where height clearances are sufficient, power poles may be removed entirely and power may be connected directly to the property through the use of a roof-mounted bracket.
